Karl’s Asylum ... for the terminally deranged

Opinions please?

I got the LEDs through today for my car! I hate taking the whole thing to bits to get at those fiddly little bulbs that cost 10p because they’ve gone bang. Enter the internet, and a company that does solid state LED “plug ‘n’ play” replacements. LONG life, low power, NO heat, and MANY COLOURS!! :D Perfect…I love LED lamps.

So, I wasted no time dismantling the Triple Information Display unit in the Astra to try them out. I am planning on bunging them in all the dash/instrument/dial lamps..but it’s SUCH an arse to get at it all. It’s literally half the dash out to get to the flipping bullbs, which is the major reason behind this fun. The TID is 4 screws, so it lost.

Below is a picture, showing the TID display in its different colours. Top is the “normal” Vauxhall orange, then a pic of it using white LEDS, then blue ones, then finally one white and one blue, giving it a “phasing” effect.

The problem is, I like the white for the crispness, but my eyes have a major thing for blue shades, and I love the “ambience” of the blue. I intend to probably make all the dials blue as well, as in the VW Polo etc.

I have a video as well of a “rainbow” LED, that shifts through the rainbow of colours as it is powered. Obviously I can’t post a pic of that, but as soon as I can find a converter for MOV files into something better, I’ll post a video of it in action..:)

So..my question is this..which do YOU like better?
