Automatically dense…
Dropped Jem off at work this morning, coming back through town..I see a black Ford Escort in front of me, drivers door flapping open, car proceeding slowly along. I slowed down, thinking “??”..then saw a woman come running out of her drive, and after the car.
There’s a hill ahead, and the car is driverless..so I decided to overtake the autonomous Escort and pull in front of it, then let the Astra idle along slowly and try to “rolling stop” the car..Which slowed it down enough for the owner to jump in and stop it.
Turns out its an Automatic, and she’s not used to it…heh..my mothers done it herself before..got out to close a gate, left it in drive, not pulled the handbrake on right and the car has wandered off doing its own thing.
That was in a field though..not quite as bad as a town situation..
You have to love Automatic Gearboxes..:) I’m just glad the Astra has the base level plastic bumpers..no marks at all!
lol…sounds like a close call… Luckily, despite having an automatic car, my K hasn’t yet done anything similar (thank god), but thats probably because she actually learnt to drive/passed her test in an automatic :)

Many thanks..:) It feels just like being 28..ROFL! I’m in work, even though we have an “excellence day”, and I’m not required to be here. I’m just calling it a maintenance day, and catching up with things while there are no kids in.
I’ve had a quote for the repairs to my afflicted Auto..£316 for new front suspension, and a cambelt change. They’ll need the car all day..sigh. Oh well, all will be sorted by mid next week..:) Then I can do a photographic guide to “giving your Astra3 a basic service”..:)
