sodding Vauxhalls…
Do you ever get the feeling your car is laughing at you..? I do. I bought a new exhaust backbox - £20. I went to fit it, and found a hole in the ruddy middle expansion box too..so I need the midsection renewing too. That was tedious. Then I bought a new oil filter for £2..went to fit it just, and came to 2 conclusions. 1: it needs to go on the ramps to get at the thing, and 2: Chain removal wrenches are shit for easily removing filters, and GREAT for denting them.
I took the “punctured” tyre in for a test..and guess what? No punctures were found. At all. So it went down twice in 48 hours for no reason? Apparently. It still might need new disks and pads as well…
I do not hate this car…I want to make that clear. I am not at “hate”..merely “mild dislike”. On the upside, the new cambelt and aux belt is good..the engine seems happier. I’m certainly less worried about it breaking. The suspension is good too..even if it’s still settling and going “BOING” occasionally. I might need a few new suspension bushes though..
Mum is still carless…although we’re currently switching between 2 loan Vauxhall Cavaliers, which is a bit odd. Currently we have an 1.8 M reg one, same colour as my Astra. Not bad motors, but you can tell the Astra was a later “more modern” design attempt. The engines seem quite lumpy compared to my little X16SZR though.
By brother and neice came down for the long weekend, which was nice. They let themselves in and were sat down here for a good hour before Jem and I got out of bed and realised. They assumed nobody was in, as the Fiesta was not here and the Cav was in the garage. We heard nothing, and I was filling the kettle when I heard the “Hello..got up then?” from behind me. The kettle almost met the ceiling! He was quite put out to hear that mum was in fact in the office and he’d been sat for an hour for no reason..honestly….what a plank..:)
So, what’s left to do this week? Got a PC repair housecall to make, and I might call CES to enquire about the cost of the new disks..good place, that. I was quoted £40 for that exhaust elsewhere. It can sit in the garage now until I get round to sorting it. I’ve got a scarifier to “post mortem” and see if I can resurrect it. I’ve got a non-well missus, some washing to do, and lastly, we have to pack as we’re off to Wales in the Cav on Friday for another long weekend. Then it’s straight back to work.
Ah well, got plenty done in the break I suppose..:)
