YES. MMHMM. I’m sure. Maybe when it LEFT THE FACTORY!!!

I finally decided the Astra’s decayed backbox was going..I’ve had a new back exhaust section in the garage for a while. I thought “Can’t be too hard..“. So, up on ramps it went.

I took off the clamp, I got the hammer. I tapped. Nothing. I tapped harder. Nothing. I got the lump hammer of power and tapped..and the exhaust snapped off!!

I sighed. I turned the air blue. This is an old exhaust..it looked like one rusty lump. Without the box for leverage, how on earth do I get a rusted end off the middle pipe to put the new back bit on?

2 hours. 2 hours that took me. Hacksaw, chisel, hammer, dremel, grinder and blood..and finally I peeled the pipe off. Lots of “Hah!”, and “In your face, car”.

Then I noticed a few rust patches..aargh. I need to get under there, take the exhaust BACK off, and grind/wire brush it clean, then paint and waxoyl it. Job for the morning there!

It was a sod…the “snap”, the sinking feeling, the “oh SHIT! It’s screwed, and I can’t even drive it to an exhaust place..”..I almost wanted to give up. Then I thought “ah, f..it. I can’t make it worse”. Heh.

All done now. Just to cap my night off, I’ve just been peed on by the Guinea pig..not that I mind, bless him. All part of the fun of having them..:)
