Hmm..what to put?
I haven’t updated in ages. Terrible.
Not much has changed, to be honest. The Astra suffered a blown head gasket several weeks back that has now been fixed, thanks to Court Autos in Madeley (Thanks Guys - great job). It’s now running even better, and the heaters are pumping out lovely hot air in minutes. £300 well spent, and here’s to another 102,000 miles.
The snow of 2 weeks back caught me out…I left work, thinking that Telford council would have cleared and gritted the roads. Nope. 1and a half hours to get home, normally a 10 minute trip. I opted to take the heavy traffic roads thinking they’d be clear. Oh no. Sideways slide down buildwas bank, all the way to the bottom. I made my peace with the car, and life in general whilst having nothing else to do given that I couldn’t exactly stop skidding.
I’d like to thank Vauxhall/General Motors for building a nice, well mannered car, and equipping it with an excellent snow mode on the gearbox. So many people couldn’t move because of no traction, and the Astra just trundled past without issue. It was very surreal to see white everywhere, and cars sliding backwards/sideways/diagonally on roundabouts. I wish I’d had a webcam or camcorder to hand.
Even when we got back here, there was no power..we had to make a snowman outside to keep warm..heh. Thank god for the emergency gas stove..:)
Snow apart, nothing much has gone on. I’ve finally brought my old Tower PC back to the flat…the laptops are good, but I need the sheer “oomph” of a 2Ghz chip for work. No monitor though. I run it through the TV. Doom3 and Halo through the TV is stunning. I’ll get the rest set up eventually.
Hmm…time for a shave..:)
