If your car ever leaks..
Just drill holes to let the water out. Seriously, it’s less of an arse than what the Astra has been putting me through. A month ago, I was taking Steve to a tech meeting. “It’s a bit misty in here” says he.
True enough, the windows are all condensed up. Odd. I get home, stick a hand under the carpet - wet. Dripping. Front and back footwells like ponds. So, out comes the toolkit. Then the rear seats. Then the front seats and interior trim. Then the carpet and foam underlay which was full like a sponge.
I’ve been driving it around with no interior bar the dash and front seats, using towels to dry it out. Last week it was fine, I’d followed MIGweb and VxON suggestions and verified that there was no obvious source of leakage left. So I decided to rebuild the car.
Now, it’s rained again. HARD. And once again, the stupid bit of sponge under the heater that has NO connection at all to the outside world is wringing wet..but nothing else is.
I’ve got one more idea, then I’m stumped. It’ll have to wait for the school break too, as it will need a garage and my floodlights, silicone sealer and almost certainly a heater. Then, I’ve got to do a service and document the removal/reconditioning/refitting of the troublesome AF13 auto-gearbox selector switch. Not paying Vauxhall several hundred quid for that.
Aren’t cars fun..? In all fairness, it’s been 2 painless years of cheap motoring for under £2000, with no hassle at all that I wouldn’t expect for a 10 year old, 100,000+ mile car. I suppose I am due some issues.
Ah well…more rain cometh our way..
