Taxi Drivers
Taxis, minicabs, and other roadhogs
Now I’ll admit that public transport is good. Taxi’s are good too. However, it appears that road rules don’t apply to some. How many times have I been overtaken, cut up, forced over, or made to swerve or stop by inconsiderate taxi drivers? Lots.
Lets set things straight.
Roundabouts
They’re NOT all yours. They have LANES. You pick the appropriate lane, and you indicate and observe others before you change. It’s not hard. Cutting up other drivers is NOT clever.
Speed Limits
Now, in front of your face, and down a bit is a bank of dials, in that thing we call “Dashboard”. There are numerous little dials there, but the important one is the BIG one,and this tells you your current speed.
Outside, there are SIGNS with BIG NUMBERS like “30” on them. These are to be used in conjunction with that big dial. Basically you look at the sign, and look at your dial. If the NEEDLE is pointing AT or BELOW the matching number, good. If it’s ABOVE it, then you need to use that middle pedal by your feet, and slow down.
Indicating your intentions
You have several levers in your cars. One does the gears, one does the wipers, and ONE does your INDICATORS. These lights are yellow and at the corner of your vehicle. They tell others “i’m pulling over, beware”. Just because they flash DOES NOT mean they’re broken. You need to use them when changing lane, pulling over to drop or pick up customers, and at roundabouts to say which way you intend to go.
