…sentences, with bloody great pauses in between.
Oh, this is going up in annoyance level. If I’m watching something/doing something and then I hear “Oh, I had something to say to you…”, I expect it to be finished. I DO NOT appreciate a ceasing of talking for hours, during which I’ll grind my teeth and tap my fingers.
It gets MUCH more irritating if after a delay of however long I hear “blah blah blah” as the second installment of the erratic request/story is told. By this time, I will be thinking of other things again-I hate having my thought train interrupted. Chances are I’ll have put the beginning part of the annoyance out of my mind as well.
If you’re going to engage someones interest, be courteous. Forethought and preparation cost nothing. Please use your mental faculties to assemble a coherent full bodied question/story/request to relate before attempting to assail the ears of your intended victim, to avoid them having to suffer fractured thought processes due to constant interruption.
I know Douglas Adams stated in the HHGTTG that “There is a school of thought that says if Humans stopped speaking, their mouths would seize up”-but for goodness sakes..if you MUST gibber at someone, at least make sure you can finish the job.
