So Who am I?
My name is Karl, and between the hours of 8am-5.15pm I am an IT Systems Administrator/Network Technician. At any other time I’m a normal person who unfortunately seems to have some form of bond with PC’s. It’s rare that I’m far from one regardless of it’s operational status. It’s fair to say that I spend MUCH too much time on/fixing/surrounded by computers of all types and ages.

On the rare occasions that i’ve appeased the electronics gods and got some spare time, I can be found reading a book, or under my car bonnet wielding a screwdriver or wrench with a demented glint in my eye.

I’m based in Shropshire, in the UK. Lovely place to live-lots of open countryside, lots of birds singing, lots of mice (sigh), plenty of wildlife and quiet roads, and next to no children to disturb my thoughts. Perfect after working in a school all week.

I live in a flat above the entrance to a craft centre. I share this home with Jem, my partner and the maintainer of the majority of the Jemjabella domain, and our cat, Hex.

I have an older brother who lives in Devon (lucky sod), and is a software programmer. I suppose we’re a family of technicians. The rest of my family seem to regard us as a bit weird..but this suits me just fine.

I frequently get stared at just walking down streets, because dammit, I’m just TOO damn gorgeous. Hah. I wish. No, I DO get stared at, but then I’m disabled, and a lot of people seems to find that fascinating to stare and gawp at. I may walk oddly, but as Jem says-if I will tuck it into my one sock, what can I expect? Thats my excuse, and I’m sticking with it.

Personally, I find the “starees” quite funny…it doesn’t upset me. It has been said by people that I have a major advantage-to quote Steve “It’s handy to have a spanner with you. You always get a good space in the carpark“. Bit crude maybe, but I found it funny.
