Tools You’ll Need
Here are the tools I personally carry in my toolkit for PC maintenance cleaning:
Magnetic Phillips and slot headed screwdrivers (For opening and dismantling the PC)
Soft long-bristled paintbrush, narrow head (For hard to reach parts)
Long bristled pastry brush (odd, but soft and effective on big areas)
Dust Mask (Or choke, your choice..;) )
Pencil eraser (For cleaning contacts inside the PC)
Long nose pliers (You never know when they’ll be useful)
AntiStatic Wrist Strap (Trust me, it’s important..)
Ideally, have a vacuum cleaner on hand to remove dust as you work. Blowing is all well and good, but trust me, you WILL choke on dust at some point.
Instead of blowing on parts to move dust, you can use “compressed air in a can”, from electronics stores. Why don’t I? Simple. I never have any when I need it!
For extra ease of cleaning and stress reduction, I suggest having some music of your choice on at the time, and a hot cup of Tea/Coffee and snacks if needed on hand, close to where you will perform PC cleaning surgery.
Still not put off? Good! Lets proceed then, shall we? Go to the loo now if you need to..it’s a bit scary first time out. ;)
